# find_threads

> The Consensus MCP find_threads tool: list your Threads and find an earlier one by title.

`find_threads` lists your Threads, so your assistant can pick up earlier research. Pass `query` to match on title. Each result carries the `thread_id` to pass to [`get_thread`](/mcp-tools/get-thread) or [`add_to_thread`](/mcp-tools/add-to-thread), and a link to the Thread in Consensus.

<Note>
  Requires a signed-in Consensus account, over OAuth or an [API key as a Bearer token](/consensus-mcp#connect-your-client).
</Note>

## Parameters

| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
| - | - | - | - |
| `query` | string | No | Match Threads whose title contains this text. Omit to list all your Threads. |
| `limit` | integer | No | Maximum Threads to return, from 1 to 100. Defaults to 20. |
| `offset` | integer | No | Number of Threads to skip, for paging. Defaults to 0. |

## Response

```json theme={null}
{
  "threads": [
    {
      "thread_id": "<thread_id>",
      "title": "Creatine dose and working memory in healthy adults",
      "status": "idle",
      "preview": "What dose of creatine improves working memory in healthy adults…",
      "interaction_count": 2,
      "last_activity_at": "2026-10-09T14:05:00Z",
      "url": "https://consensus.app/search/creatine-dose-and-working-memory-in-healthy-adults/<thread_id>/"
    }
  ],
  "has_more": false
}
```

Illustrative. `status` is `running`, `idle`, or `failed`. When `has_more` is `true`, call again with `offset` raised by `limit` to get the next page.

## Example prompts

* "Find my Consensus thread on creatine and pick up where we left off."
* "List my recent Consensus research threads."

## Good to know

* **Rate limit:** one `find_threads` call per second.
